Agreement To Use a Hunter’s Mason Bees Nesting House at My Home
I agree to install and use at my home a mason bee nesting house supplied by Hunters Mason Bees (HMB).
The nesting house and tote bag with paper tubes are given to me so that I will alter my mason bee rearing process and to ultimately partner with Hunters Mason Bees in their mason bee program in following years.
I will install the nesting house under an overhang on the south side of my home to receive morning sun. I also agree to take down all of my own mason bee blocks and hide them in a cardboard box or sack with ½” holes on the sides so that my bees will leave my blocks and begin using HMB nesting house(s). (Directions are found in HMB webpage Shifting Bees.)
I will monitor the nesting house’s activities to ensure that no predator (squirrels raccoons, birds, mice, etc.) disrupts their activities. If any adverse activity occurs, I will call and email Dave for suggestions and remedies.
I will return the tote bag with all paper tubes to HMB when requested of me by email or telephone. I understand that HMB will attempt to coordinate a group pick up at a common site with other partners for my ease. I will do all I can to ensure that the paper tubes in the tote bag are back to HMB in early June. If I can’t make this time, I will contact HMB who will provide me with other partners near me and will get the tote bag to them.
I will attempt to be gentle with how I handle the completed nesting house as I understand sharp jarring may dislodge the mason bee eggs from the nectar causing the larva to starve.
I realize that mason bees, like any bee, can sting. I understand that although a sting may be a rare occurrence, I will hold Hunters Mason Bees harmless from any actions or health reactions caused by this event.
In the event that I decide to not participate with HMB in the future, I will receive back from HMB a number of live cocoons roughly equivalent to the number with which I started. This number is based on an initial assessment on the number of closed holes and age of my existing blocks.
Hunters Mason Bees obligations to you:
-
HMB will provide a nesting house, directions online with how to place the nesting house, and an adequate number of paper tubes to meet the needs of the foraging mason bees.
-
HMB will also communicate frequently by email to help you understand more of what should be occurring with the mason bees.
-
HMB will promptly respond to email or phone calls with questions about mason bees. Please do so in the website Contact link.
-
HMB will analyze the harvested mason bees, eradicate pests, refrigerate the mason bees, and return to you an adjusted number of mason bees annually
If you decide to cancel this agreement, HMB will return a number of live cocoons to you in the Spring based on the initial assessment. |
